Getaways for the Most Wonderful Time of the Year

It’s the time of year when most people hunker down and enjoy winter festivities with the family. Gifts are purchased, cookies baked, and families gather in tight spaces for some quality time together.

Are you feeling something different this year?

Take a holiday trip to some of the most festive cities in the U.S. and have yourself a merry little Christmas. Don’t worry, this will be a good version of Christmas Vacation.

Your Bags Are Packed and You’re Ready to Go

For that classic Christmas vibe, pack up the family and head to Woodstock, Vermont. With its covered bridges and large pine trees, this idyllic setting is sure to make your heart full of Christmas cheer. Enjoy a 19th century Norse parade with over 50 horses and riders dressed in Christmas attire and period outfits. Be sure to catch the traditional feast afterwards held at Billings Farm & Museum.

Alternately, head west and immerse yourself in the famous ski town of Breckenridge, Colorado. With an annual snowfall of 366″ every year, you’ll find yourself drawn to the glimmering slopes. Watch or participate in the Lighting of Breckenridge, which features Santas running down Main Street, caroling, and eating cookies.

Leavenworth, Washington was labeled the Ultimate Holiday Town USA by the A&E Network. Tucked into the Cascade Mountains, you’ll feel some Bavarian village vibes. Fridays during the season, you’ll find St. Nikolas handing out gifts and caroling on the main drag. If you are wanting a German-style Christmas, but aren’t quite ready to venture overseas, look no further than Leavenworth.

Experience the look and feel of all your favorite Christmas movies by jetting off to the Big Apple. New York City is great any time of the year, but come Christmas time, it’s breathtaking. Go skating at Rockefeller Center and check out the Mayor’s Christmas tree. Get in some last minute shopping and see the famous Christmas displays in all the major department stores. Top of your trip with a family horse and carriage ride through Central Park.

Start a New Tradition

Take Christmas to a new level this year by giving the gift of adventure to your family. This could become the next family tradition that your children can pass down to their families. Spread holiday cheer far and wide this year with the best family vacation you’ve ever been on.
