Kick My Bucket List

New Ideas for Fun Things to Do With Your Friends

I don’t know about you, but sometimes I find myself getting so busy that I forget to slow down for a minute and enjoy spending time with friends.

But really, sometimes going out to fancy dinners can get expensive, concerts are too loud to talk to each other, and always going to the bar is getting a little boring.

So what do you do with friends when you want to catch up?

I have compiled this list of fun things to do with your friends! It doesn’t need to be the same old night out anymore. The best part is that most of these ideas are inexpensive, or even free.

Host a Potluck

Having a potluck at home is one of my favorite things to do with friends. Really, anything that involves food and friends together is at the top of my list. If you host a potluck instead of a traditional dinner party, it will take some of the work off of your shoulders and make your job as the host much easier.

A potluck isn’t just reserved for dinner parties, either. Try doing a brunch potluck complete with mimosas or a build-your-own bloody mary bar.

Have a Game Night

This might sound a little old-fashioned, but it might end up being the most fun night at home that you’ve ever had. The possibilities are endless, from classics like Monopoly or Clue, to newer games like Cards Against Humanity.

You could even break out video games that are great for a crowd, like Mario Cart or Just Dance. Don’t forget the snacks!

Sign Up for a Class Together

If you and your friends have common interests, it could be fun to learn new skills together. Even if you’re already a great cook, there is always more to learn in a cooking class. Learn some new moves with a yoga class or zumba.

Bring out your inner artists in a wine and painting class. Or, really spice up girls night with a private burlesque class at a local dance studio.

Explore the Outdoors

Get your friends together for some fresh air. Hiking might sound a little adventurous if you’re not the most outdoorsy, but there are plenty of easy trails for beginners, too. It’s a great way to get a little closer to nature and see the beauty that nature has to offer.

If wheels are more your style, you could also meet with your friends to go out for bike rides. Just make sure you bring plenty of water!

Go Treasure Hunting

If you can convince everyone to get up super early on the weekend, hitting up yard sales is a great way to spend the morning with friends. You’ll have tons of fun, and hopefully find some really cool stuff (for cheap!). But you’ve got to get out there early before all the good stuff is gone.

Ahead of the weekend, search online for nearby yard sales and estate sales to figure out what’s hot for the weekend. Or, try visiting a flea market to hunt for interesting finds. Afterward, grab some brunch.

Take a Day Trip

We tend to overlook the really cool spots that are near home. Check out undiscovered spots in nearby towns, or popular destinations in your state that you’ve never been to before. You might be surprised by what’s been right under your nose this whole time.
