Dubai is basically like the Las Vegas of the United Arab Emirates, known for its nightlife and modern style. Many people use it as a stopover when flying in and out on Emirates, but it can be much more.
If you’re looking to treat it as more than a stopover, then you’ll find plenty of things to do. Here are the top 3 things to do when visiting this fascinating city.
Burj Khalifa
A trip to Dubai wouldn’t be complete without a visit to the Burj Khalifa. It is currently the tallest building in the world and has been since 2010.
Although, if you want to go up to the highest floor (128th) for the observation deck, it’ll cost you about $30. On the deck, however, you can see the entire city and desert.
If you want to save money, don’t bother seeing it at sunset, many think it isn’t worth it.
Check out a Mall
Malls in Dubai are quite impressive, with plenty of things to do. The most popular mall is probably the vast Dubai Mall, but the Mall of the Emirates is great as well.
Between the two malls, there are millions of square feet of retail space, but that’s not all. In the Mall of the Emirates, you can visit Magic Planet (a theme park), or Ski Dubai (an indoor ski resort).
If those don’t tickle your fancy, there’s always the Dubai Aquarium and Underwater Zoo in Dubai Mall. It’s one of the largest aquariums in the world, with a massive walkthrough underwater tunnel.
Visit Old Dubai
While the super modern look of Dubai might be appealing for some, others might prefer the more old-style Dubai.
In Old Dubai, you can find markets all across the area, such as Gold Souk, a massive traditional gold market. There are also boat rides and old school restaurants. Here you can also find the Dubai Museum which can teach you the history of Dubai and life in the desert. Admission is literally only $1, so it’s hard to justify not at least stopping by.
One thing to keep in mind if you’re visiting Dubai is to grab the Entertainer magazine. You can find it for approximately $120 and it contains coupons for all kinds of things you might want to do there.
You’ll find it to be worth purchasing if you’re planning on staying a while or doing lots of activities.
