Apple cider vinegar is one of those miracle substances that has countless benefits. It seems like every day I’m hearing of another way to use it.
If you haven’t quite jumped on the apple cider vinegar train yet, it’s about time. Your body, hair, house, and even your pets will thank you later.
Here’s just a few of the ways that apple cider vinegar can improve your life (and just about everything in it!).
You’ll Have Fewer Chemicals in Your Home
Apple cider vinegar makes an excellent natural alternative to harsh commercial cleaners. Not only is it nontoxic, so it’s better for you and your family, but it’s biodegradable, so it’s better for the environment.
The active cleaning agent is acetic acid, but you have to be careful with wood, some softer stone, and floors. In those cases, dilute a cup of apple cider vinegar with a gallon of water to help prevent clouding or etching.
It’s not just for floors or countertops, either. You can use vinegar to clean the microwave, the dishwasher, laundry, windows, you can even pour it into the toilet and let it sit overnight.
You’ll have Shiny Hair
If you’re ready to see improvement in your hair, it’s time to add apple cider vinegar to your shower routine. Using an apple cider vinegar rinse after shampooing will give your hair a shine boost. Mix 1/2 a tablespoon of vinegar with 1 cup of cold water.
You can keep it in an old shampoo bottle to help reduce waste or any other container that closes.
Your Pets Will Have Fewer Fleas
Apple cider vinegar is great for repelling fleas. Mix one part vinegar to one part water, spray it on your pet’s fur and rub it in. Make sure you saturate their entire coat. Do this every day for about a week, and it should help kick any flea infestation.
You’ll Have Happier Skin
Apple cider vinegar is a natural alternative to your current facial toner. Dilute one part vinegar to two parts water, and apply like you would regular toner. Leaving a dab of the vinegar on your skin overnight might also help fade age spots or acne scars.
It will also help soothe sunburned skin. Just add about a cup of apple cider vinegar to a bath, and soaking for at least 10 minutes will help relieve the discomfort.
On top of all that, apple cider vinegar has also been known to remove warts. You can soak a cotton ball in vinegar and use tape or a bandaid to keep it in place on the wart overnight. The treatment should be continued for at least a few days, even after the wart falls off, to make sure it doesn’t return.
You’ll Have Happier Insides, Too
Ingesting apple cider vinegar has been shown to have great health benefits. This is because it contains vitamins, minerals, amino acids, acetic acid, citric acid, pectin, and micronutrients that your body needs to stay healthy. That’s a lot of healthy, beneficial ingredients in one product.
Studies have shown apple cider vinegar to be beneficial when combating oxidative stress caused by toxins and free radicals, and also contributes to good gut health, lower cholesterol, and maintaining a healthy alkaline pH level.
So how do you get all of these benefits? There are plenty of ways to add apple cider vinegar to your diet, from pickling vegetables in it, to adding it to warm water with some honey or even just taking a shot of apple cider vinegar.
