It doesn’t get much better than a day at the beach. But which beach? Here are our picks for the best beaches in America.
Clearwater Beach – Florida
The name says it all with this gorgeous beach! White sand, crystal blue water, and endless sunshine–that’s what you’ll find in Clearwater, Florida. There’s plenty of nightlife, too, as well as shopping and dining just steps away from the ocean.
Hulopo’e Beach – Hawaii
On the island of Lana’i, hugging the beautiful Manele Bay, is one of the most beautiful beaches in the world. It’s nearly pristine since Lana’i is one of the less-traveled islands in the Hawaiian archipelago. Treat yourself to a dream vacation at the Four Seasons resort overlooking this tropical paradise.
Driftwood Beach – Georgia
Jekyll Island is a personal favorite of mine. The area is quiet, almost subdued compared nearby St. Simons Island. It’s a little difficult to get to, but Driftwood Beach absolutely lives up to the hype as one of the best beaches in America. The stretch of sand is strewn with the skeletal remains of trees, their stark shapes and bleached wood a sharp contrast to the rolling blue ocean.
Race Point Beach – Massachusetts
Not all beaches are reserved for warm, sunny climates. New England beaches have their own brand of beauty–a little wilder, a little rockier. Race Point Beach in Provincetown features rolling dunes, waving grasses, and a picture-perfect lighthouse.
Ocracoke Beach – North Carolina
North Carolina’s Outer Banks are unique among American beaches. Ocracoke was once the infamous pirate Blackbeard’s home base, and he was killed there in 1718. These days, it’s home to a charming lighthouse, incredible sand dunes, and some seriously delicious seafood.
Coronado Beach – California
California doesn’t lack for coastline, but Coronado beach is one of the best and most popular. The San Diego beach is overlooked by the magnificent Hotel del Coronado. It’s a great destination for families–and there’s a generous amount of free parking nearby. The north end of the beach also offers a dog park for your canine family members.
